Course time capped at 2.5hrs due to a sailing race in the vicinity. Any paddlers on the course at this time will be recovered to the finish by safety boats Prize giving at registration desk 15mins after last paddler crosses.

Starting at Friars Cliff beach heading round Hengistbury Head to the famous "Yellow Buoy", turning left and back to the "Red Post" in the harbour, turning left & back out for a 2nd lap around the yellow buoy, returning to the beach at Friars Cliff.
Water edge start (1 strike false start – subsequent results in DNF) Water edge finish (time keepers decision is final) Start is 1 minute warning whistle. Race start whistle in starters control after the 1 minute count down. False start resets process Buoys must be turned in the correct direction and the course map must be adhered to as per race briefing. No drafting of any craft other than OC1/Va’a/Ski Note in the event of severe weather we may cancel the event & refund entry fees. NO canoes to be placed on the beach until after race briefing. They are to remain in the grass car park area Once finished canoes to be cleared straight to grass car park area (this is to remove public risk of craft left on the beach) Points awarded as part of the ‘unofficial’ UK OC Series 1st to 3rd place in men’s & women’s classes awarded prizes
NOTE: This is an open ocean race with current, tide, wind & waves likely. Be aware of your own limitations before you enter or race.
EDIT 23-08-19 - due to popular demand we will provide a 1 lap short course option - inform us on the day if you wish to choose this option. This will NOT count towards the series points.

Insurance for the event & participation is covered by British Canoeing. In order for this to cover you, you need to be a full member of BC or pay the additional entry fee for a day ticket. £30 if a British Canoeing Member (Note you will be required to demonstrate your membership)n There are two possible types of membership, either you have an individual BC membership or you are a member of a club who is a BC affiliated club.
